When evaluating the academic performance of students with special educational needs (SEN) in special schools and normal schools, several indicators can be considered. Here are some key indicators for program evaluation:
1. Individualized education plan (IEP) Progress: Evaluate the progress made by students in achieving their individualized goals outlined in their IEPs. Indicators may include improvements in academic skills, language development, social-emotional growth, and adaptive behaviors.
2. Academic achievement: Assess the academic performance of students by comparing their achievement levels across subjects or specific academic skills. Indicators may include standardized test scores, grades, or progress in meeting grade-level expectations.
3. Inclusion and participation: Evaluate the extent to which students with special education needs are included and actively participate in the learning activities and classroom environment. Indicators may include the level of engagement in class discussions, group work, and extracurricular activities.
4. Transition success: Measure the success of students in transitioning from special schools to mainstream schools or vice versa. Indicators may include smooth transitions, successful integration into the new educational setting, and continued academic progress.
5. Support services utilization: Assess the utilization and effectiveness of support services provided to students with special education needs. Indicators may include the frequency and quality of services such as individualized instruction, assistive technology, specialized therapies, or additional support from learning specialists or resource teachers.
