Great observation! It is true for some correctional systems to widely use interventions, including punishment and control-oriented programs in the hope of reducing recidivism. However, those that focus on changing anti-social traits and improving self-control and problem-solving skills were found to be more effective. Moreover, others also associate education programs and vocational training with improved opportunities for employment after release.
