Hi, MEL professionals. I know that there are constraints for the target groups of specific services, but I am not sure if these constraints also include their families? I mean, if either the applicant’s partner has a higher income than the prescribed limits, can the applicant still apply for OALA?

Hi, MEL professionals. I know that there are constraints for the target groups of specific services, but I am not sure if these constraints also include their families? I mean, if either the applicant’s partner has a higher income than the prescribed limits, can the applicant still apply for OALA?

I see. I think this also makes sense since they live as a unit of two persons.

No. Persons whose marital status is "Married”, or "Cohabiting" must be assessed on the basis of the "Financial Resources Limits for Married Couples" to determine whether they pass the means test. If the income and/or assets of the applicant and his/her spouse/cohabiting partner or one of them has/have exceeded the prescribed limits, they will not be eligible for Normal OALA/Higher OALA.
