I had that question before. In my perspective, understanding the causes of social exclusion is essential in choosing proper practices to intervene in. People can experience themselves as “outsiders” through a range of possible factors, not just about economic disadvantage but through ethnic group, health, disability, even personal characteristics, and so on.
