The growing evidence regarding neuroplasticity being preserved as people age has driven the development of cognitive interventions to delay or slow the progression of cognitive decline. Consequently, older adults are increasingly being encouraged to engage in cognitively stimulating activities such as reading, solving crossword puzzles, and playing board games. In individuals without cognitive impairment, there does appear to be a positive effect of cognitive interventions on cognitive functioning. Reijnders and colleagues (2013) reviewed 35 cognitive intervention studies and found that cognitive training in older adults with or without cognitive impairment can be effective in improving objective cognitive functioning. The authors reported a varied range of approaches that were used in these studies, including computerized training, teaching memory strategies, training metacognitive skills, or promoting selective attention skills. Overall, they found improvements in the domains of memory, executive functioning, processing speed, attention, and fluid intelligence. Because of these interventions, participants’ subjective cognitive complaints also appeared to decrease.

Hi, I realized that it seems the concept “outcome” is different from the term “output”. Taking the grandparent training project as an example, what is the “outcome’ referable?
