It is clear that there are strong and reciprocal relationships between physical and mental health have. That is, age-related health conditions and impairments place older adults at a greater risk of mental health problems, especially depression. Depression, in turn, is a major risk factor for increased disability, further morbidity, and increased mortality rates in life-threatening illnesses.
