Adaptive behaviour refers to how a child functions in the day-to-day world. Skill areas included in adaptive behaviour assessments are communication, socialization, motor, and daily living skills. A common measure used to assess a child's adaptive functioning is the Vineland Adaptive Behavior Scales for Children.
