Evaluating programs addressing social disadvantages requires careful attention to ethical considerations. Here are five key ethical considerations that evaluators should bear in mind:

Informed consent: Obtaining informed consent is essential when involving individuals or communities in the evaluation process. Evaluators should clearly explain the purpose, procedures, potential risks, and benefits of the evaluation to participants. They should ensure that participants understand their rights, including the voluntary nature of participation, confidentiality, and the right to withdraw at any time.

Privacy and confidentiality: Evaluators must prioritize the privacy and confidentiality of participants. Data collected during evaluations should be de-identified and stored securely to protect participants' personal information. Confidentiality measures should be in place to prevent the unauthorized disclosure of sensitive data that could harm participants or communities.

Avoiding harm and unintended consequences: Evaluators should strive to minimize any potential harm or adverse consequences resulting from the evaluation process. This includes avoiding stigmatization, retraumatization, or exacerbation of existing disparities. Evaluators should carefully consider the potential risks associated with data collection, analysis, and reporting and take steps to mitigate them.

Equity and inclusivity: Evaluators should promote equity and inclusivity throughout the evaluation process. This involves ensuring the representation and meaningful participation of diverse stakeholders, including marginalized or disadvantaged groups. Evaluators should be sensitive to power dynamics, cultural differences, and potential biases that could influence the evaluation process and outcomes.

Transparency and accountability: Evaluators should uphold transparency and accountability in their evaluation activities. They should communicate evaluation findings, methodologies, limitations, and any conflicts of interest to relevant stakeholders. Evaluators should be open to feedback, engage in dialogue with stakeholders, and address concerns or criticisms that arise during the evaluation.

Hi, I realized that it seems the concept “outcome” is different from the term “output”. Taking the grandparent training project as an example, what is the “outcome’ referable?
