Question about the scales

Hi! Our organisation is going to use the scales provided in the outcome/impact indicator bank, but find that some the scale items are not applicable to our service users. Can we modify it or delete that item? Will the modified scales still reliable? Thanks!

My suggestion is to keep them and test them in a pilot study. If the results of pilot study are not satisfactory, then delete them.

Oh I see, but do we need to use reliability test in the SPSS to see if the modified items are suitable for us to use?

Please note that usually reducing the number of items would weaken the reliability. Thus, slight change in wording in items is preferable.
