It is vital that appropriate support structures exist –first, social workers need to develop individual/internal support structures that help to nurture and sustain their relationship-based and reflective identity, and secondly, but simultaneously, they need to ensure there are external support systems in place to assist them in promoting their practice. Individual/internal support means recognizing the complex and multifaceted
nature of the practice. External support structures include supervision, co-working, and teamwork that value relationship-based and reflective practice.
