Hi there. As previously noted, juveniles with more ACEs are more likely to come into contact with the juvenile justice system. And I have searched for some literature and found a Risk-Need-Responsivity (RNR) theory, which has been suggested effective for providing service. Could anyone kindly explain more to me?

Indeed, some effective juvenile justice interventions often utilize the RNR paradigm which involves targeting the specific juvenile’s “Central Eight” dynamic risk factors. The Risk-Need-Responsivity (RNR) paradigm holds that the intensity and duration of services should be commensurate with the risk of the youth, with higher risk youth receiving more intensive services for a longer period (the risk principle), which has garnered substantial empirical support. Specifically, relevant targeted risk factors in juvenile’s “Central Eight” often include substance use, mental health, and prosocial relationships—factors that have been found to interact with the ACE-offending relationship. Many evaluations have found following the RNR paradigm by specifically utilizing proper treatment dosage and service matching, what they termed the “holy grail,” significantly lowered subsequent juvenile recidivism.

Hi, I realized that it seems the concept “outcome” is different from the term “output”. Taking the grandparent training project as an example, what is the “outcome’ referable?
