If service recipients rate themselves with a higher potential of suicide ideation in a program evaluation, it is crucial to handle the situation with care and prioritize their safety. Here are five points to consider when dealing with such a situation:

Immediate safety assessment: Take the individual's self-report seriously and prioritize their safety. Ask direct and empathetic questions about their current state, such as whether they have a plan, access to means, or an immediate intent to harm themselves. If there is an immediate risk, encourage them to seek immediate help from a mental health professional or a crisis hotline.

Active listening and empathy: Provide a non-judgmental and supportive environment for the individual to express their feelings and concerns. Active listening involves giving them your full attention, validating their emotions, and showing empathy. Let them know that you are there to support them and that they are not alone in their struggle.

Encourage professional help: Encourage the individual to seek professional help from a mental health provider who can assess their situation more comprehensively and provide appropriate treatment and support. Offer assistance in finding resources, such as providing contact information for local mental health services or helplines.

Create a safety plan: Collaborate with the individual to develop a safety plan. This plan should include identifying supportive individuals in their lives, establishing coping strategies for managing distress, and listing emergency contacts or helpline numbers. The safety plan should be easily accessible and reviewed periodically to ensure its effectiveness.

Follow organizational protocols: If you are part of a program or organization, familiarize yourself with the established protocols for handling such situations. Follow the guidelines provided by your organization, which may include involving a supervisor, a mental health professional, or contacting emergency services, depending on the severity of the situation.

Hi, I realized that it seems the concept “outcome” is different from the term “output”. Taking the grandparent training project as an example, what is the “outcome’ referable?
