To evaluate a program focused on exploring the lived experiences and care challenges of formal paid caregivers for people with intellectual disability dementia, consider the following five key points:

In-depth interviews: Conduct in-depth interviews with formal paid caregivers who are involved in caring for people with intellectual disability dementia. Use a qualitative approach to explore their lived experiences and gain insights into the specific care challenges they encounter. Ask open-ended questions that allow caregivers to share their perspectives, emotions, and strategies for managing the unique needs and complexities of individuals with intellectual disability dementia.

Thematic analysis: Analyze the interview data using thematic analysis to identify common themes, patterns, and experiences among the formal paid caregivers. Thematic analysis involves coding and categorizing the data to extract key themes and sub-themes that emerge from the caregivers' narratives. Explore themes related to the specific care challenges, emotional impact, communication difficulties, training needs, and support systems encountered by formal paid caregivers.

Caregiver well-being assessment: Assess the well-being of formal paid caregivers who participate in the program. Utilize validated measures to evaluate their levels of stress, burnout, job satisfaction, and perceived social support. Compare the well-being of caregivers before and after participating in the program to evaluate any changes or improvements. Consider the impact of the program on their emotional resilience, work-life balance, and overall job satisfaction.

Feedback and reflection sessions: Conduct feedback and reflection sessions with formal paid caregivers to gather their insights and feedback on the program. Provide a platform for caregivers to express their thoughts, suggestions, and recommendations for improving support and training. Identify areas where the program has been effective in addressing their needs and areas that require further attention or enhancement. Use this feedback to refine the program and ensure its relevance and effectiveness.

Program outcomes and impact: Evaluate the outcomes and impact of the program on formal paid caregivers and the care they provide. Assess if the program has led to increased knowledge, improved caregiving skills, enhanced understanding of intellectual disability dementia, and better communication strategies. Measure changes in caregiver attitudes, confidence, and self-efficacy in managing the care challenges. Additionally, consider the impact of the program on the quality of life and well-being of people with intellectual disability dementia who receive care from formal paid caregivers.

Hi, I realized that it seems the concept “outcome” is different from the term “output”. Taking the grandparent training project as an example, what is the “outcome’ referable?
