Rural areas have a shortage of primary care physicians and dental providers; additionally, very few specialists practice in rural areas, forcing non­urban older adults to seek specialty care in larger cities. In addition to limited access to health care and communication barriers, rural older adults can experience difficulty in acquiring other ser­ vices that would help facilitate aging in place. These include respite care and homemaker services.
