The interdisciplinary team approach is client-centred. As with the multidisciplinary approach, the client may be seen by many health care providers. The difference between these approaches is that the outcome of interdisciplinary teams is the development of an integrated plan of services. Team members openly communicate about the problems and strengths of the clients, coordinate and share the results of their assessment data, and involve the clients and members of their families in treatment plan discussions. In the interdisciplinary approach, there is less redundancy of services, and because the clients are involved in the planning process they tend to be less confused and at times more actively involved in the treatment process.
