“Frailty” is a modern medical term to describe the vulnerable situation the oldest adults may reach at some point. This concept has grown in importance in medicine and is now a priority because of a need for a better understanding of the health and functional status of older persons and a need to prevent or at least delay the onset of late-life disability and its adverse consequences. While there is no consensus regarding the definition of frailty, several biological domains are commonly included in the concept, which is widely accepted in the medical field. A crucial point is that this construct identifies a phenotype of older persons at elevated risk for numerous adverse outcomes). Nevertheless, “frailty” also implies a psychosocial vulnerability and should also be a matter of social concern. The dynamic concept of frailty developed by Rockwood recognizes a complex interplay of assets and deficits, “medical” and “social,” that maintain or threaten independence.

Following the previous post, suppose we have measured the stress level of hidden youth before the pandemic and conduct the same survey one year later and find out there is a decrease in scores. Can we say that the pandemic reduces hidden youth’s stress levels?

Hi, I am afraid I disagree with a previous post that “the pandemic will worsen hidden youth’s situation.” You see, now everyone is asked to stay at home, and hidden youth no longer face pressure from their parents or society to go out, which might reduce their stress level.

Following the previous post, we have used the snowball sampling method and asked the interviewees to introduce their “hidden” peers who would like to accept the interview. But will it have an issue of generalizability?

The outbreak of coronavirus pandemic and social distancing measures might make “hidden youth” even more isolated from society. Our center’s cyber outreaching team is considering online engaging those youth and look for participants who would like to accept interviews. May I ask which sampling method is the most appropriate?

Hi, I realized that it seems the concept “outcome” is different from the term “output”. Taking the grandparent training project as an example, what is the “outcome’ referable?
