Getting stakeholders actively involved in the process of program evaluation is important for the following reasons:

Enhancing credibility and buy-in: Involving stakeholders, such as program staff, participants, and funders, in the evaluation process creates transparency and builds trust. Their active participation increases the credibility of the evaluation findings and recommendations, promoting buy-in and acceptance of the evaluation outcomes.

Ensuring relevance and validity: Stakeholders possess firsthand knowledge and expertise about the program. Their involvement helps ensure that evaluation questions, indicators, and methods align with the program's goals and context, improving the relevance and validity of the evaluation.

Generating diverse perspectives: Stakeholders bring diverse perspectives and insights to the evaluation process. Their involvement allows for a comprehensive understanding of the program's impact, strengths, weaknesses, and areas for improvement, enabling a more nuanced and balanced evaluation.

Promoting utilization of evaluation findings: Engaging stakeholders in the evaluation process increases the likelihood of evaluation findings being utilized for decision-making and program improvement. Stakeholders can provide input on actionable recommendations and strategies for implementing evaluation outcomes effectively.

Fostering ownership and empowerment: Active involvement of stakeholders in program evaluation fosters a sense of ownership and empowerment. They become invested in the evaluation process and outcomes, leading to increased commitment and motivation to drive positive change and continuous improvement.
