Gilgun (2005) states the cornerstones of evidence-based practice includes:
(1) What we know from research and theory;
(2) what we and other professionals have learned from our clients, or practice wisdom, which also includes professional values;
(3) what we, as social workers, have learned from personal experience; and
(4) what clients bring to a practice situation.
