Besides the mental conditions mentioned previously, it is currently unclear whether apps are effective in post-traumatic stress disorder or schizophrenia. A recent meta-analysis examining apps for PTSD found mixed results for efficacy depending on study method (positive effects for pre-post studies, no effect for RCT evidence). In schizophrenia, there is developing evidence for the acceptability and feasibility of app-supported interventions, but limited clear evidence of clinical benefit. To sum up, there is a limited basis on which to make recommendations about the utility of apps for these mental conditions in routine practice.
