The range of r is from –1 to 1. The two variables are positively correlated when the Pearson correlation coefficient (r) is between 0 and 1. The variables are not correlated if the Pearson correlation coefficient (r) is 0. The variables are negatively correlated if the Pearson correlation coefficient (r) is between 0 and -1.
