In my opinion, the element of social work that distinguishes social work from other helping professions is advocacy. Social workers are unique in being oriented to and knowledgeable about advocacy, which engages them in purposeful actions that help people advance their rights, opportunities, causes, and human dignity.

Could you perhaps assist me in getting some information about the community service orders (CSO) program verified? According to what I’ve heard, a court may issue a CSO order requiring a person who has reached the age of 14 or older and has been found guilty of a crime carrying a sentence of imprisonment to perform unpaid work for a number of hours up to 240 hours per month while being supervised by a probation officer. Can I refer to those as CSO scheme activities?
