When evaluating a program aiming to provide occupational training support for young offenders, consider the following five points:

Skill acquisition: Assess the program's effectiveness in facilitating skill acquisition among young offenders. Measure the development of occupational skills, such as technical competencies, job-specific knowledge, and transferable skills like communication, teamwork, and problem-solving. Evaluate the participants' progress through pre-and post-training assessments or performance evaluations. This evaluation point helps determine if the program is effectively equipping young offenders with the necessary skills for future employment and successful reintegration.

Employment outcomes: Evaluate the program's impact on employment outcomes for young offenders. Measure the rate of job placement and retention among program participants. Assess their success in securing employment after completing the occupational training support. Measure indicators such as employment duration, wage levels, and job stability. Higher employment rates and positive employment outcomes indicate the program's effectiveness in facilitating successful transitions to the workforce.

Participant satisfaction and engagement: Gather feedback from program participants regarding their satisfaction and engagement with the occupational training support. Conduct surveys, interviews, or focus groups to assess their perceptions of the program, the relevance of the training, and the quality of support received. Evaluate their level of engagement and active participation in the training activities. Participant feedback provides insights into the program's effectiveness in meeting their needs and supporting their occupational aspirations.

Employer feedback: Obtain feedback from employers who have hired young offenders who completed the program. Conduct surveys, interviews, or focus groups to assess their perceptions of the program's graduates in terms of their skills, work ethic, and overall performance. This evaluation point helps determine if the program is effectively fostering lasting change and providing young offenders with the necessary support for successful and sustainable careers.
