Transportation services are essential for older adults living in the community who no longer drive. These services allow them to go to doctor’s appointments, visit the senior centre, and attend church services. Most publicly funded transportation services, however, are restricted to medical appointments due to a lack of funding. Some communities in the US have started volunteer transportation programs that rely on volunteer drivers using their own automobiles to counter the shortage of funds for transportation.
