By adapting a questionnaire developed by Odgers, Moffitt, Broadbent, et al. (2008), conduct problems can be assessed. This questionnaire asks (yes/no) questions about behaviors such as stealing, bullying, threatening, assaulting, and damaging property, which are indicative of conduct disorder. The average number of "yes" responses is used to calculate a total score, reflecting the average level of conduct-disorder symptoms in youths. Higher scores indicate more severe symptoms. In terms of juvenile offending, youths can be directly asked if they have ever been arrested, convicted, or incarcerated as a result of a crime. Those who answer "yes" to any of these questions can be identified as having an arrest record.
