According to some researchers, findings from analog research tend to lack generalizability due to the following reasons:

Contextual differences: Analogue research often occurs in controlled laboratory settings that may not fully replicate the complexity and nuances of real-world situations. The artificiality of the setting limits the generalizability of findings to naturalistic settings.

Participant characteristics: Participants in analog research studies are often recruited based on specific criteria, such as convenience or specific traits. This sampling approach may not adequately represent the diversity and variability of the broader population, leading to limited generalizability.

Demand characteristics: Participants in analog research may be aware that they are participating in a study, which can lead to demand characteristics or altered behavior due to their perception of what the researcher expects. This artificial influence can distort the findings and limit their applicability to real-world situations.

Narrow scope: Analogue research often focuses on isolated aspects of behavior or specific experimental manipulations. The narrow focus may not capture the complexity and multifaceted nature of real-world phenomena, further limiting the generalizability of findings.

Time constraints: Analog research typically occurs within a limited time frame, which may not allow for capturing long-term effects or the dynamic nature of behaviors and phenomena. This temporal restriction hampers the generalizability of findings to real-life situations that unfold over extended periods.

Hi, I realized that it seems the concept “outcome” is different from the term “output”. Taking the grandparent training project as an example, what is the “outcome’ referable?
