The Meaning in Life Questionnaire–Presence of Meaning Subscale (MLQ-P) developed by Steger et al. (2006) and translated by Chan (2014) was adopted to measure adolescents’ sense of meaningfulness. The MLQ-P is a five-item scale including statements like “I understand my life’s meaning,” and “My life has a clear sense of purpose.” Each item is rated on a 6-point Likert-type scale ranging from 1 (absolutely untrue) to 6 (absolutely true). Thus the total score ranges from 5 to 30. A higher scale score indicates a stronger sense of meaningfulness.
