Those are control variables. They are not of interest but could influence the outcomes. Including the control variables in the model enhances a study’s internal validity because it isolates the control variable’s effects from the relationship between the variables of interest, limiting the influence of other extraneous variables. This helps establish a correlational or causal relationship between the variables of interest and helps minimize bias.
