Participation should include involvement in giving opinions as well as engaging in service planning, implementation and decision making. The major aim of service users’ participation is to make them feel that they have the right and power to influence the services provided to them and make them aware that, rather than just a service consumer, they should be regarded as citizens with the right to participate.
