If a frequency distribution is not symmetrical, it is said to be asymmetrical or skewed. Any deviation from symmetry is called skewness. In skewed distributions, the curve drawn would be elongated either to the left or right. When mean > median, the frequency distribution curve is right-skewed, i.e., the curve has a longer tail towards the higher values. When mean < median, the frequency distribution curve is left-skewed, i.e., the curve has a longer tail towards the lower values.
