People with disabilities and service providers or advocates face at least three barriers to effective inclusion. fear, control, and change. It is a fear of failure on our part rather than the fear of the people to be included. It is accepting “that ‘I’ don’t have all the answers—that ‘I’ am not in total control” and being able to ask others, including those being served, to share control. It is realizing that “Inclusion is the beginning of change”.
