The strengths perspective is a way of working with clients that shifts social workers away from focusing on clients’ problems, deficits, and labels toward interactions and interventions that focus on client’s strengths, abilities, resources, and accomplishments. The strengths perspective is based on the fundamental belief that focusing on individual strengths, versus deficits or limitations, is the true avenue for therapeutic progress.
