Hi, everyone. I read a study that said a woman who has lost her mother before 11 is more likely as an adult to be vulnerable to depression. Can I use it as knowledge to observe the children who have lost their mothers in the fieldwork?

Sure. This is because theory – written down, researched, formal knowledge – is superior to knowledge from other areas, particularly experience. This is based on the idea that researched formal knowledge is more carefully and rigorously constructed than can be the case with personal experiences, and that it is subject to more systematic and widely based critical scrutiny, the result is that we can have more confidence in such knowledge. In addition, because of the less idiosyncratic nature of the knowledge development process, it is more possible to apply such knowledge generally.

Hi, I realized that it seems the concept “outcome” is different from the term “output”. Taking the grandparent training project as an example, what is the “outcome’ referable?
