To evaluate a program focused on leisure education in youth with developmental disabilities, consider the following five key points:

Pre- and post-assessment: Conduct pre-and post-assessments to measure the impact of the program on the leisure skills, knowledge, and attitudes of youth with developmental disabilities. Utilize validated measures or questionnaires to assess their current level of leisure participation, interests, preferences, and barriers. Compare the pre- and post-program assessments to determine if there have been improvements in leisure skills, increased knowledge about leisure opportunities, and positive shifts in attitudes towards leisure activities.

Observation and behavior analysis: Conduct direct observations of youth participating in leisure activities before and after the program. Use standardized observation protocols to assess their engagement, social interactions, and skill utilization during leisure activities. Analyze the observed behaviors to determine if the program has resulted in increased active participation, improved social skills, and enhanced leisure-related behaviors.

Parent/caregiver feedback: Gather feedback from parents or caregivers of youth with developmental disabilities who have participated in the program. Utilize surveys, questionnaires, or interviews to assess their perceptions of the program's impact on their child's leisure participation, skill development, and overall well-being. Parent/caregiver feedback provides valuable insights into changes observed at home, the child's level of satisfaction with leisure activities, and any challenges or barriers that may still exist.

Program implementation assessment: Evaluate the implementation of the leisure education program. Evaluate the program's alignment with best practices and evidence-based approaches in leisure education.

Long-term impact evaluation: Assess the long-term impact of the program on youth with developmental disabilities. Follow up with participants several months or a year after program completion to determine if the skills and knowledge gained during the program have been sustained over time. Evaluate if the program has led to continued engagement in leisure activities, expanded leisure repertoire, and improved overall quality of life. Long-term impact evaluation provides insights into the program's effectiveness in promoting lasting changes in leisure participation and enjoyment.
