When conducting an exploratory study on the self-rejection process of juvenile delinquency, consider the following five points:

Define the research questions: Clearly define the research questions that will guide your exploration of the self-rejection process among juvenile delinquents. These questions should focus on understanding the factors that contribute to self-rejection, the mechanisms by which it occurs, and its implications for delinquent behavior. For example, you might ask: What are the underlying psychological and social processes that lead to self-rejection in juvenile delinquents?

Select a qualitative research design: Choose a qualitative research design that allows for an in-depth exploration of the self-rejection process. Common approaches include interviews, focus groups, and participant observation. Qualitative methods provide rich and nuanced insights into individuals' experiences and perspectives, allowing you to capture the complexities of the self-rejection process.

Recruit participants: Identify and recruit a diverse sample of juvenile delinquents who have experienced self-rejection. Work with relevant organizations, such as juvenile justice systems or residential facilities, to gain access to potential participants. Seek informed consent from both the participants and their legal guardians, ensuring ethical considerations are met throughout the study.

Data collection and analysis: Conduct interviews or focus groups with the participants, allowing them to share their experiences, thoughts, and emotions related to self-rejection. Use open-ended questions to encourage detailed responses. Transcribe and analyze the data using thematic analysis or other appropriate qualitative analysis methods. Look for recurring themes, patterns, and variations in participants' narratives to gain a comprehensive understanding of the self-rejection process.

Triangulate and validate findings: Ensure the validity and reliability of your findings by triangulating the data from different sources. This can involve comparing the narratives of participants, seeking input from experts in the field, or examining relevant documents or artifacts. By corroborating findings across multiple sources, you can enhance the credibility of your study's conclusions.
