When evaluating a peer intervention program aiming to decrease drug abuse among youth, consider the following five points:

Knowledge and attitude change: Assess changes in knowledge and attitudes related to drug abuse among participating youth. Measure indicators such as knowledge about the risks and consequences of drug abuse, perception of peer norms regarding substance use, and attitudes toward substance abuse. Utilize pre- and post-intervention surveys or questionnaires to capture changes in knowledge and attitudes.

Behavioral change: Evaluate the impact of the peer intervention program on actual behavioral change among youth. Measure indicators such as changes in drug use patterns, frequency of drug use, initiation of drug use, or willingness to resist peer pressure related to substance abuse. Collect data through self-report measures, confidential surveys, or official records (if available) to assess behavioral change outcomes.

Peer support and influence: Assess the role of peer support and influence in the intervention program. Measure indicators such as the strength of peer connections, perceived social support from peers, and the influence of peers on drug-related decisions. Utilize self-report measures or social network analysis techniques to gather data on peer support and influence.

Program satisfaction and engagement: Evaluate participants' satisfaction with the peer intervention program and their level of engagement in program activities. Measure indicators such as satisfaction with program content, perceived usefulness of interventions, and participation rates. Conduct surveys, focus groups, or interviews to gather feedback on participants' experiences and program engagement.

Long-term impact: Conduct follow-up assessments to evaluate the long-term impact of the peer intervention program. Measure indicators such as the maintenance of behavioral changes, sustained peer support networks, and continued resistance to drug abuse over time. Long-term evaluation provides insights into the program's effectiveness in promoting lasting prevention efforts.
