There does not seem to be a standard set of questions or method for conducting interviews with children who may have been physically abused. Beyond differences in the types of questions used to elicit this history, there are differences in children's understanding of the meaning of various terms, willingness to disclose such information and recollection of details from one or more incidents. Establishing certain interview conditions, however, may enhance the consistency and utility of the child's reports, such as interviewing in a private and quiet setting. These conditions may promote rapport building, which is a vital initial interview objective.
