Evaluating the effectiveness of a program aiming at promoting aged care and intergenerational solidarity in Hong Kong involves assessing its impact on various aspects of the participants' well-being and the community at large. Here are five key points to consider when evaluating the effectiveness of such a program:

Intergenerational interactions: Evaluate the extent and quality of intergenerational interactions facilitated by the program. Assess changes in the attitudes, perceptions, and understanding of older adults and younger generations towards each other. Use surveys, interviews, and observations to measure the frequency and depth of intergenerational connections and their impact on social cohesion and mutual respect.

Quality of aged care: Assess the impact of the program on improving the quality of care provided to older adults. Evaluate changes in the access to and utilization of aged care services, including healthcare, social support, and assistance with daily activities. Measure indicators such as satisfaction with care, improvements in health outcomes, and enhanced overall well-being of older adults.

Empowerment and engagement: Evaluate the program's impact on empowering older adults and facilitating their active engagement in the community. Assess changes in their sense of purpose, autonomy, and social participation. Measure indicators such as involvement in decision-making processes, participation in community activities, and the development of new skills or knowledge. Surveys, focus groups, and participant feedback can provide insights into the empowerment and engagement of older adults.

Attitudes and perceptions: Assess changes in attitudes and perceptions towards aging, older adults, and intergenerational relationships among program participants and the wider community. Use surveys or questionnaires to measure shifts in ageist stereotypes, increase appreciation for the contributions of older adults, and improve understanding of the benefits of intergenerational solidarity. Monitor changes in public discourse and media representation to gauge the program's impact on shifting societal attitudes.

Sustainability and scalability: Evaluate the program's potential for sustainability and scalability in promoting aged care and intergenerational solidarity beyond the initial implementation phase. Assess the program's replicability, cost-effectiveness, and potential for long-term impact. Consider factors such as partnerships with community organizations, stakeholder engagement, and the availability of resources to determine the program's viability for wider adoption and sustained outcomes.
