It really depends on your research topic and perhaps the resources (e.g. time, budget etc.) that you have.

Yes, you are right. Would you recommend I include parents as well in a study for children?

But of course, you must get parental/ guardian’s consent if you are doing a study for children. You may also need to go through specific ethics approval procedures for studies involving children at your organization.

Depends on the project objectives, think about the purpose of engaging parents as well.

Hi everyone! It is well recognized that crime and delinquency of young people place considerable economic loss on society, from an economic standpoint. I am trying to find an appropriate way to estimate these costs in Hong Kong. Appreciate it if you could give me some advice to calculate. Or maybe provide me with some practical examples.

Following your previous suggestion, I have searched some theories to explain youth delinquency and the absence of parental supervision after school hours and found Hirschi’s social control theory. Yet, how to link youth’s behavior to social control is a huge challenge for me (I do believe in “the person in environment” theory). Grateful if you help me with it!

Hi there. I am conducting a program evaluation of our services for juvenile crime. Yet, surprisingly I found that the most likely time for a juvenile to commit a crime is weekdays, instead of weekends. It doesn’t make sense to me… Is there anyone who could give me a hand?

Hi, I realized that it seems the concept “outcome” is different from the term “output”. Taking the grandparent training project as an example, what is the “outcome’ referable?

I have designed a large-scale survey about the life satisfaction of low-income families in Hong Kong. Is it appropriate to use the electronic survey through mobile phones?
