What are the steps of Evidence-Based Practice (EBP)?

The EBP process has five basic steps:
1)ASK and formulate important and answerable questions about your clients.
2)ACQUIRE, search the best available research evidence to answer the question.
3)APPRAISE and evaluate the research evidence regarding its validity and potential relevance to your clients. The validity refers to the strength and quality of the research design and method and whether the outcomes are unlikely to be caused by extraneous variables. In addition, to integrate evidence into practice, we should evaluate whether the findings are useful and applicable in our settings.
4)APPLY, integrate the evidence to practice and policy decisions based on client values and preference, as well as other application concerns (e.g., available resources, professionals’ expertise).
5)ANALYZE, evaluate the process and outcome, and then adjust practice accordingly.
