Following my previous post, I have searched for some secondary data and found out that community-dwelling adults generally live longer than those in institutions. That’s very interesting. I want to ask, then, can I say that for the benefit of older adults, living in a community is better than living in institutions?

Following my previous post, I have searched for some secondary data and found out that community-dwelling adults generally live longer than those in institutions. That’s very interesting. I want to ask, then, can I say that for the benefit of older adults, living in a community is better than living in institutions?

I am afraid not. Many factors will influence longevity. The health conditions of people living in a community and an institution are different at the beginning. You will need to control the other influencing factors in the analysis.
