When evaluating a program aiming to promote social skills for ex-offenders, consider the following five points:

Skill development: Assess the effectiveness of the program in developing social skills among ex-offenders. Measure the acquisition and improvement of essential social skills such as communication, empathy, conflict resolution, problem-solving, and decision-making. Evaluate the participants' progress through pre- and post-program assessments or by observing their interactions in various social contexts.

Behavior change: Evaluate the impact of the program on the behavior of ex-offenders. Assess whether the program has positively influenced their attitudes, beliefs, and actions related to social interactions. Measure changes in their ability to manage anger, handle conflicts peacefully, establish healthy relationships, and make responsible decisions. This evaluation point helps determine if the program is effectively fostering positive behavior change.

Peer and community relationships: Assess the participants' ability to develop and maintain positive relationships with peers and members of the community. Evaluate their engagement in pro-social activities, participation in support groups or mentoring programs, and integration into community networks. Measure the perceived quality and quantity of their social connections. This evaluation provides insights into the program's effectiveness in facilitating successful reintegration and reducing social isolation.

Self-efficacy and confidence: Measure the participants' self-efficacy and confidence in social settings. Assess their belief in their ability to engage effectively in social interactions, navigate challenges, and maintain positive relationships. Evaluate changes in their self-perception and confidence levels through self-assessment surveys or interviews. Improved self-efficacy and confidence indicate the program's effectiveness in empowering ex-offenders in social situations.

Long-term outcomes: Assess the long-term outcomes of the program regarding social skills and reintegration success. Measure indicators such as reduced recidivism rates, improved employment and educational outcomes, and enhanced social functioning in areas like family relationships, community engagement, and pro-social behavior. Evaluate the impact of the program on ex-offenders overall reintegration into society and their ability to lead productive, law-abiding lives.
