When evaluating a program focused on the relationship between intergenerational interactions and relationship quality among mothers and their adult children, consider the following five points:

Define program objectives: Clearly define the objectives of the program evaluation, specifying the desired outcomes related to intergenerational interactions and relationship quality among mothers and their adult children. Determine the specific aspects of intergenerational interactions (e.g., frequency, quality, communication) and relationship quality (e.g., closeness, satisfaction, conflict) that you aim to measure.

Select appropriate measurement tools: Choose reliable and validated measurement tools to assess intergenerational interactions and relationship quality. Consider utilizing established scales and assessments, such as the Network of Relationships Inventory (NRI) for measuring relationship quality and the Intergenerational Solidarity Scale (ISS) for assessing intergenerational interactions.

Recruit participants and collect data.: Recruit a sample of mothers and their adult children to participate in the evaluation. Administer the selected measurement tools to assess their relationship quality and intergenerational interactions. Collect data on participants' perceptions of closeness, communication patterns, conflict resolution, and the frequency and quality of their interactions.

Analyze and interpret data.: Analyze the collected data to evaluate the relationship between intergenerational interactions and relationship quality among mothers and their adult children. Look for correlations, associations, or patterns that emerge from the data. Use statistical methods such as correlation analysis, regression analysis, or content analysis to examine the relationship between intergenerational interactions and relationship quality variables.

Consider contextual factors: Consider contextual factors that may influence the relationship between intergenerational interactions and relationship quality. Explore potential moderating factors, such as cultural norms, life events, or geographical proximity, that may influence the strength or direction of the relationship.
