Motor development refers to how a child is developing in terms of gross motor skills (sitting, standing, and walking) and fine motor skills. Children attain motor developmental milestones within an age range. For example, children begin to walk between 9 and 18 months of age. Common measures used to assess a child's motor development include the Bayley Scales of Infant Development-Third Edition (BSID-III) and the Denver Developmental Screening Test-Revised (DDST-R).
