Poor people with disabilities need to find opportunities to get out of poverty. This may be done through education, employment or through loans, often in the form of micro-credit. It is often not sufficient to give them the same opportunities as everybody else; there must be a positive differential treatment that gives preference to people with disabilities to employment, to education or to other arenas for social participation. People with disabilities are disadvantaged from the outset, thus they need to be given something more to be equal.
