A study involving 4,493 male drug abusers found a strong negative correlation (r = -0.626) between self-efficacy beliefs and mental health, suggesting that individuals with low self-efficacy are less equipped to cope with stress and more prone to mental health issues, such as depression and anxiety. Thus, improving self-efficacy may serve as a protective factor against mental health deterioration in this population.
