I am aware of many studies that try to measure the costs of disability through a “standards of living” approach, but is anyone aware of studies that try to measure the direct costs of disability — that is the extra expenditures made by families with members with disabilities — especially in developing countries?

There was a report on the costs of disability in Ireland in 2004. (http://nda.ie/Publications/Social-Welfare/Cost-of-Living/)
Also more recently Inclusion Ireland held a conference on the cost of disability in 2014. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_Fiq75b3n-U&list=PLiF8Mvf7RMluFwp36-cYNuQc78RdWS0jw)
