Globalizing is often seen as consisting of several elements of change, that is, economic, political, cultural and technological processes. The globalizing process that is most relevant to care is the increasing migration in the world and its feminization, and how these processes relate to elderly care. In feminist sociology attention has been paid to the way globalizing increases the feminization of migrants. It is especially female migrants from poor countries who increasingly work in the Global North while leaving their children in the sending countries in the care of their families or paid carers.
