In traditional Chinese society, the joint extended family is regarded as a social norm. Chinese older adults have a higher level of trust in kinship networks. When individuals encounter problems that are difficult to solve, they often turn to their kinship network first. The kinship network plays an important role in providing support for the elderly in the Chinese context.
