I want to clarify that the “statistical regression” here doesn’t mean the statistical models used in the evaluation. It refers to people’s tendency to perform on average in a population. In the context of program evaluation, participants with extreme scores at the pretest may tend to become less extreme at the post-test just because of their preference rather than the effect of the intervention.
