When practicing with high-risk clients, clinicians must take time to conduct frequent, comprehensive suicide risk assessments to learn if the individual is experiencing suicidal ideation. Several treatment approaches have been empirically tested for interventions with suicidal elders, including cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), interpersonal therapy, psychopharmacology, and crisis intervention services.
